DEFORM-3D has been used to model the process of tube piercing. A specialized updating algorithm using Lagrangian and ALE has been developed to reduce computation time without sacrificing accuracy in this complex process. Simulating this process was impractical in the past. Additionally, a summary of DEFORM-3D / DEFORM-F3 version 5.1 and DEFORM-2D / DEFORM-F2 is included.
